Hampton Virginia Driver Improvement and RADEP Course Options

Before you reserve a class or plan a trip across Hampton Roads, identify what your paperwork actually requires. Driver Training Solutions LLC (DTS) helps Hampton students compare eight-hour Driver Improvement, complete twelve-hour RADEP, and the four-hour RADEP supplement.

This page connects your course decision with your travel and completion plan: verify the hours, confirm the accepted format, and choose a route that gives you time to finish and submit your certificate.

Which Class Do I Need?

Match the requirement before choosing the route

“Driver improvement,” “reckless driving,” and “RADEP” are not interchangeable instructions. A traffic charge alone does not tell you which course to buy. Use your DMV notice, court order, or attorney instructions to answer these questions.

Does the document require eight hours?

The regular Virginia Driver Improvement Clinic is an eight-hour course. It may be a complete requirement by itself. Do not add RADEP simply because your case involves a serious traffic allegation.

Review eight-hour Driver Improvement

Does it specifically require full RADEP?

The Reckless & Aggressive Driver Education Program (RADEP) totals twelve hours. Compare the full online program with the classroom pathway of eight-hour Part 1 plus four-hour Part 2.

Understand the full RADEP requirement

Have you already completed eight hours?

Keep your certificate. Ask whether that completion is accepted as Part 1 for this requirement and whether you may complete the remaining four hours online or in a classroom.

Check the supplemental RADEP option
A useful question before payment: “For my requirement, which course and number of hours are accepted, may I complete it online, and how and when must I submit the certificate?” DTS explains its programs; the responsible authority determines what satisfies your case. No course guarantees a charge reduction, dismissal, or other court outcome.
Helpful Tip

A Peninsula plan that starts before the drive

For Hampton residents with a deadline

Whether you are starting from Phoebus, Buckroe, Downtown Hampton, or the Coliseum area, make the course decision before planning the journey. A convenient date is only useful if it matches the required course and gives you enough time to submit completion documents.

  • Read the completion deadline separately from the hearing date.
  • For classroom study, allow for bridge-tunnel traffic, parking, and arrival instructions.
  • For online study, leave time for all required work, testing, and certificate processing.
  • If two classroom parts are needed, plan both sessions rather than only the first trip.

Hampton and Newport News: connected Peninsula guidance

Students who live in Hampton but work, study, or handle appointments in Newport News can use both city guides when planning attendance. Your home city does not turn an unlisted address into a scheduled classroom.

Our Hampton guide focuses on course selection, travel planning, and deadlines. The Newport News guide provides the neighboring city's course and classroom-access information. Both lead to the same current schedule and clearly separated enrollment options.

Newport News Driver Improvement & RADEP Options

For students elsewhere on the Virginia Peninsula, verify your own requirement and use only an advertised venue and class date.

Six online choices for eligible Hampton students

Choose the required course first, then the language-access option. These links explain each course and lead to its existing enrollment pathway. An online offering does not override an instruction to attend in person.

What Spanish-accessible means

Original online courses are authored in English. After course entry, Google Translate can display compatible lessons, instructions, quizzes, and the final examination in Spanish. Translation is automatic and may be imperfect; this is not a separately authored Spanish curriculum. Customer service and technical support are available in English only.

Antes de pagar: confirme las horas y la modalidad aceptadas. El contenido compatible puede mostrarse en español mediante Google Translate después de ingresar. Las clases presenciales, la atención al cliente y el soporte técnico se ofrecen solamente en inglés.

Online purchases are nonrefundable. Confirm acceptance, prior-certificate eligibility when applicable, and language limitations before purchasing.

Two-Part RADEP

Classroom RADEP: plan two sessions from Hampton

Eight-hour Driver Improvement can serve as RADEP Part 1 when accepted for your requirement. Complete classroom RADEP also requires four-hour Part 2 after an acceptable Part 1. Register separately for each session; the course and venue may differ between dates.

8-Hour Driver Improvement / Part 1

$100 cash only

Typical session: 9:00 AM–5:30 PM. Classroom instruction is in English. Complete the full session and required testing.

4-Hour RADEP / Part 2

$100 cash only

Typical session: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM. Bring the prior eight-hour certificate when required. Check Part 2 availability separately.

Full Classroom RADEP

$200 combined

Eight hours plus four hours, two classes, and two registration submissions. Plan both dates before assuming the requirement will be finished on time.

Cash Only

Separate classes, separate cash payments

Pay $100 cash for each classroom course. These classroom prices are separate from the online prices above.

Scheduled classroom destinations for Hampton students

Choose a venue from the current schedule, not from the city nearest your home. Not every course is offered at every location. Your selected listing and registration confirmation identify where to attend.

Location detail that matters: the Hampton Inn & Suites classroom listed here is in Chesapeake. The hotel name does not mean the class is held in the City of Hampton.
Before Class

Know what happens from registration to completion

Prepare your registration

Use your correct personal information and select the exact course, city, and date. For classroom RADEP, submit a separate registration for each part.

Open classroom registration

Prepare for the course

Classroom students should bring photo identification, relevant DMV or court paperwork, cash tuition, and any required prior certificate. Online students should read the selected course's access and completion instructions before beginning.

Complete and submit

Finish all required instruction and testing. Completion documentation is processed after course requirements are met. Review your details, keep a copy, and submit it by the method and deadline your authority specifies.

What the learning experience provides

Classroom study combines instructor-led defensive-driving education with opportunities to ask questions about the material. RADEP includes education about attitudes and behaviors behind risky driving. Online students work through required course content and assessments using the selected platform.

Help before you commit

If you are unsure which DTS course matches the wording in your documents, call 757-235-4994 before paying or planning travel. We can explain our courses and registration steps. Your court, DMV, attorney, or referring authority must resolve acceptance questions.

Certificate delivery is part of your plan. Do not assume completion automatically sends your certificate to the court or satisfies its filing instructions. Confirm who must submit it and whether prior and supplemental certificates must both be provided.
Remember

Course completion and DMV points are separate questions

Four-hour supplemental RADEP and complete twelve-hour online RADEP do not award +5 Virginia DMV safe-driving points. For an eight-hour Driver Improvement Clinic, point treatment depends on the official attendance reason and eligibility.

  • Voluntary attendance: eligible drivers may receive five safe-driving points once every 24 months, subject to DMV restrictions.
  • DMV-required attendance: age rules affect point eligibility.
  • Court-required attendance: points require specific court authorization supplied to the clinic; do not assume they are included.
  • Insurance attendance: no DMV safe-driving points are awarded for an insurance-premium reduction course.

Important Requirement

CDL holders: verify the commercial requirement

These regular Driver Improvement and RADEP courses do not meet Virginia DMV commercial-driver improvement requirements for CDL license holders. Confirm the required commercial clinic before registering.

Hampton and Peninsula course-planning questions

Is a DTS Driver Improvement class currently scheduled in Hampton?

The current published schedule lists Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, not a Hampton classroom date. Use the live schedule and your registration confirmation to identify the actual venue.

Does “Hampton Inn” mean the class is in Hampton?

No. The listed Hampton Inn & Suites venue is at 1421 North Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake. Confirm the city and street address before traveling.

Can I complete my requirement online without leaving the Peninsula?

An online course may eliminate classroom travel if your requirement accepts that format. Confirm the exact course and hours before choosing among eight-hour Driver Improvement, full twelve-hour RADEP, and the four-hour supplement.

What if I can make only one classroom trip before my deadline?

Full classroom RADEP requires two sessions totaling twelve hours. One eight-hour class does not complete full RADEP. Ask the responsible authority about accepted formats and timing before registering.

Can I use an eight-hour certificate from a different Virginia school?

A qualifying certificate may be accepted as RADEP Part 1. Confirm that it meets your current requirement and that the remaining four-hour component may be completed in the format you select.

Can I take Part 1 and Part 2 in different scheduled cities?

Choose dates and venues that offer the correct components and let you complete an acceptable Part 1 before Part 2. Register separately for each class and verify both confirmations.

Should I use the Hampton or Newport News guide?

Use Hampton for the course, travel, and deadline planning explained here. Use the Newport News guide for neighboring-city information. Both connect to the current schedule; neither promises a Peninsula classroom that is not listed.

Is Spanish classroom instruction available?

Classroom instruction is in English. The six online choices include three Spanish-accessible routes using Google Translate for compatible material after entry. Original course content and customer support are in English.

Will DTS send my certificate directly to the court?

Do not assume automatic court delivery. Confirm the submission instructions, who must provide the certificate, and the deadline. Keep your own copy and check whether both RADEP component certificates are required.
